Cone Oil has commenced active pilot operations of Cone Fuel, a patented motorcycle-mounted fuel storage and dispensing system designed for last-mile fuel access in dense Nigerian cities.
The system represents a fundamental departure from informal fuel delivery methods — replacing the improvised, unaccountable nature of jerrycan-based supply with a purpose-engineered platform built around safety, precision, and traceability.
Protected under Nigerian Patents (granted 2022), the system is engineered as a purpose-built alternative to informal jerrycan delivery. It features modular 80-litre quick-release tanks, tamper-proof electronic metering tracked to the millilitre, explosion-proof composite construction, and CE-certified safety valves with anti-spill technology. The unit is designed to fit standard commercial motorcycles widely used across Nigeria — making it immediately deployable at scale without requiring new infrastructure.
A key component of the platform is its integrated Monitoring and Automation layer, which provides real-time tracking of every litre dispensed, operational visibility, and data integrity across each delivery. This layer is central to the system's accountability proposition — ensuring that both operators and end-users have a verifiable record of every transaction.
The core aim of the invention is to drastically reduce the cost of having fuel delivered safely to anybody, at any time, and in any weather.

The pilot is focused on real-world deployment with trained motorcycle operators and pump attendants alongside selected end-users, under everyday urban traffic conditions. The goal is controlled, observable operations that generate the data and learnings needed before any broader rollout.
Cone Oil confirms that they are progressing through the regulatory processes with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) ahead of wider roll-out in Nigeria.
